City Vs Village Life: Dialogue
City Vs Village Life: Dialogue
Teacher: Good morning, dear
viewer, welcome to the English Speaking Practice class. how are you doing?
Student: Good morning, Sir. I am doing well. And you?
Teacher: I am perfectly fine.
Today our topic is “Village and City life difference”. I hope it will be a very
interesting topic because as a part of rapid modernization, we have seen such
drastic changes in our time.
Student: yes, of course. You are right. I have seen such
modernization which I did expect in my childhood. I also belong to the time
when
Teacher: as you can see, village life is quite an
actor, simple, relaxing, and healthy. In
villages the environment is peaceful and people living in villages breathe pure
air.
Student: this bird-eye view is relaxing. Is it morning time?
Teacher: yes, because in
villages people wake up early in the morning and they start doing their daily
work with the first ray of light. The village life is an amazing life that is
full of blessings of God and has wonderful things.
Student: yes, Villagers live happily and don't store for the
next day. They eat and thank God for what they got in their lives. They don’t
wish for superficial things but are always respectable and thankful to God for what
they have.
Teacher: The village life is the
life of those people who live far away from cities. They don't have many
facilities but there are some well-known blessings which make their life more
wonderful and amazing like they breathe in the fresh air, eat fresh food, drink
fresh milk and pure milk and live happily with each other.
Student: alright. Villagers have fresh food, fresh air and
atmosphere, no pollution, no tensions and worries, and purity of mind. They
have a wide cultivating area and a strong family system in which they take care
of each other. They have love and sympathy for not only human beings but nature
and the enviromnet as well.
Teacher: yes. I think now we move on to our next
segment of city life and should discuss its pros and cons.
City life is a modified version of village life with less
sympathy and love for other beings.
Student: You are talking superficially. There are crowded
houses. A large number of people live in small houses which are is injurious to
health. Polluted air, dirty streets, and stinking drains spread many diseases.
The people of cities have no love and sympathy.
Teacher: Yes, I am saying right. A village is a dirty
place. Comforts of life are not available there. Heaps of garbage can be seen
everywhere. People and animals live in the same place. They also drink water
together at the same dirty pond. Ignorance prevails everywhere.
Student: Fewer Job Opportunities: Due to their small size
and low cost of living, rural communities typically offer fewer jobs. Available
jobs likely pay less than those in bigger cities. However, this may be less of
a concern if you can work remotely, are your boss, or are retired. Shortage of
medical facilities, insufficient education and qualification are major problems
of village life.
Teacher: I traveled
to a city town where I have seen many fallacies.
Student: what type of fallacies, sir.
Teacher: Here, look at these local streets. Here, there
are a lot of problems like narrow streets, open sewerages, no proper sunlight
which is a necessity for human life.
Even, I am unable to see any type of greenery here.
Student: Sir, I believe that what you are saying is true but
we can not say something as we have visited one place only. There are many
towns and cities where we have good facilities for modern life. New colonies
and housing societies have overcome this problem.
Teacher: okay. Any other
logical point dear?
Student: nowadays, all basic amenities like smart and
spacious building designs; sports and recreational places like shopping
arcades, fitness-based clubs, value-added facilities, hospitals, multiplexes,
and educational facilities are offered in big cities which we can not expect in
village life. Even city life has positive effects on a person’s psychology.
People tend to be more highly qualified, expert, and professional.
Teacher: hmmm, you are quite
right in your opinion.
Student: yes, sir. I have no biases and prejudice against
village or city life.
Teacher: but, in my opinion, village life is far better
than city life. Villagers are loyal, faithful, and pure-hearted. They are
simple and their way of living is simpler.
Student: Big cities are major cultural centers that
have a vibrant art and music scenes, a wider variety of food, more places of
interest. We can meet people from different cities, ethnicities, and
intellectual levels. In cities, we have public transportation and big events.
As literate people, we can find big opportunities and big cities rather than
villages. This is because many industries and commercial centers are found in
cities.
Teacher: okay. Tell me
something more about city life. What I see is pollution and population
explosion.
Student: No, Sir. This is not quite right. When you live in
the city, you have access to better roads and better means of
transport. City life also encourages cultural integration. It is
also easy to access health facilities in the city. Another advantage
of city life is access to shopping centers, entertainment, and has access
to technological advancements. All these facilities are not present in village
life.
Teacher: it is famously said
that a village is a place where one can find peace, unity, strength, inspiration,
and most importantly a natural and beautiful life.
Student: but, with due respect. I don’t see it in this way.
Villages are now changed. We have all advancements and problems of city life in
villages too. All villages have access to electricity, technological
advancements, and genetically modified food that is bad for health. Most of the
people who are living in villages don’t have access to pure food and milk
because they are now adopting city life standards and abandoning their rural
lifestyle.
Teacher: yes. It is true. But
One disadvantage of city life is Due to the levels of unemployment in the city,
people commit a crime to earn a living. City life is also more
expensive than rural life. The cost of food, water, housing, and
electricity is very high in the city as compared to rural areas. city life is
full of traffic congestion. Its air has a high level of pollution because
of industrialization and environmental pollution. Noise pollution, water
pollution, land pollution, robbery,
theft, and overpopulation are some of the disadvantages of city life.
Student: As city populations increase, so do businesses.
People have fast access to their needs and want in cities. As time passes, more
and more people all over the world leave villages and move to cities, seeking a
new life.
Teacher: one important fact is as we are facing the
rapid development of cities, rural areas are currently experiencing the strong
effects of urbanization. Here you can see in this picture how agricultural
lands are being transformed into residential and commercial plots. This is
because the land is cheap and youngsters like us do not want to ploughlands and
want money instead.
Student: yes. although The law does not allow building
houses, factories, industries, etc. On agricultural land, regardless of the
ownership of the property. Construction of any kind should only take place
after the agricultural land is converted into non-agricultural land.
Teacher: Agriculture is the
mainstay of Pakistan’s economy. However, it has been noticed that farmers are
increasingly giving up agriculture in favor of non-agricultural activities.
people need more land and plots for their houses. If this urbanization is not
stopped then we will not have a single piece of land to plow and harvest
because of the overpopulation.
Student: Indeed. We should not buy and sell agricultural
lands for the sake of residential or commercial purposes. Govt should take bold
steps and enforce the law to protect agricultural land for further selling,
construction, redevelopment, and alteration.
Teacher: Yes, to some extent,
you’re right also.
Student: I think we all should take steps to remove the disadvantages of both village and city lives. Thank you for enlightening me again. Take care, sir.Teacher: Good morning, dear viewer, welcome to the English Speaking Practice class. how are you doing?
