Chapter 7: Good-Bye, Mr. Chips

Q1. What memories of Katherine haunted Chips?

 Chips always followed her advice. he saw Katherine rushing along the corridors, laughing at some mistake in the essay he checked, taking part in Mozart trio, and tending him her good advice.

Q2. How did Katherine urge Chips to forgive the students?

She urged chips not to punish them, she asked him to give them a chance and guide them. She requested Chips to give them some time to improve themselves.

Q3. What did Chips remember about Dunster and Ogilvie?

Ogilvie was a choirmaster in the school. Dunster put a rat in the organ loft while old Ogilvie was taking choir-practice. Ogilvie was dead and Dunster drowned at Jutland.

Q4.  What does the phrase Memories of Rod and Lines” mean?

Chips punished his students either with a Rod or by giving them a line to write it for 50 times or 100 times. He called them the “Memories of Rod and Lines.”. He even wanted to name his book with this phrase.
