Chapter 8: Good-Bye, Mr. Chips

Q1.  When and how did Katherine Bridges die?

On the 1st of April 1898, Katherine Bridges died while giving birth to a baby. It was a great shock for Chips. He wished he had died like her.

Q2. Who was Faulkner and what did he ask Chips?

Faulkner was a student of Chips. He asked Chips if he might have the afternoon off and miss chapel too. He still asked if he could go to the station to meet his guests. Chips allowed him to go.

Q3. What was the April foolery Chips faced? How did the students make Chips fool> What happened on 1st April 1898?

On 1st April 1898, while he got some letters. He opened these letters one by one. All the letters contained a blank sheet of paper. Students try to make chips, a fool.

Q4. What was the effect of Katherine ‘s death on Mr. Chips?

On the death of his wife, he found himself to be in a horrifying nightmare. It was a great shock for Chips. He wished to die like her. He found himself disturbed.
